This past year, Dickson inspired his coworkers to get involved with another project he is passionate about, Engage Now Africa. ENA is committed to rescue, heal and empower children in Africa. Last year, Dickson led Vivint employees in raising $150,000, more than double their original goal for ENA of $60,000. The money is being used to rescue and rehabilitate child trafficking victims from Ghana.

Rising interest rates have also been a big headwind that asset owners like Vivint Solar have to deal with. Vivint Solar Nationwide Solar Finds that the Majority of Americans See Themselves as Green

Vivint Solar today announced the results of its 2018 Environmental Consumer Report, based on a nationwide survey that polled more than 3,000 Americans to explore the perceived divide between environmentally conscious – or “green” – consumers and conventional consumers in America. The goal of the survey was to gain insights into how the choices, habits and preferences of consumers who view themselves as green differ from those who identify as more conventional. “It’s clear from the results of our report that green consumers come from all walks of life and that conventional consumers actually have more in common with this group than they think,” said David Bywater, Vivint Solar CEO. “There are plenty of preconceived notions about eco-friendly individuals, from their lifestyles to their political persuasions, but our study found that green habits, beliefs and behaviors appeal to everyone.”

Vivint Solar Powers Net-Zero House on 40th Season of 'This Old House'

Vivint Solar, Inc. (NYSE: VSLR), a leading full-service residential solar provider, today announced it will be featured on the 40th season of the iconic home renovation show “This Old House” on PBS. Vivint Solar designed and installed a custom solar energy system as part of a renovation project to transform a 1920s shingled cottage located in Rhode Island into a net-zero home. Vivint Solar announced a strategic collaboration with Porch, a nationally recognized home services platform, to offer solar energy systems to homeowners. Sneak Peek: Jamestown Solar Plan

The Jamestown Net-Zero House will get a big energy boost from the steeply sloped, south-facing garage roof, on which a 5-kilowatt photovoltaic array will soon be installed. Designed by Vivint Solar, the plan calls for a system consisting of 18 crystalline silicon PV modules capable of 5,310 watts (slightly more than 5 kw), which is expected to offset 86 percent of the house’s energy usage. Once the PV modules are installed—which can be done in a matter of hours—there is typically a 30-day time frame before the panels can be connected to the grid and start generating energy. During that interval, local utility and municipality permissions need to be secured.

After my leading with my myopic observations of the solar industry (that Tesla was the end-all-be-all and Vivint Solar was this nascent newcomer), he gave me a quick history lesson. Vivint Solar had been incubating in Vivint Smart Home for years. Then they broke out on their own in 2011, conducted a successful IPO in 2014, and now have over 130,000 installations in 21 states.

Vivint Solar Takes the ParityPledge as Part of Its Commitment to Improving the Pathway for Women in Leadership Positions

In honor of Women’s History Month in March, Vivint Solar, Inc. (NYSE: VSLR), a leading full-service residential solar provider, today announced it has taken the ParityPledge, building on its commitment to improving the pathway for women in leadership positions. The ParityPledge asks that companies commit to interviewing at least one qualified woman candidate for every open position, vice president and above, including the C-suite and board. There is no requirement of hiring quotas or deadlines. The ParityPledge is an initiative of Parity.org, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on bringing gender equality to the highest levels of business.

Energy Storage Wars: 3 Products Going Head to Head With Tesla's Powerwall

When Tesla 's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Powerwall was introduced in 2015 it was the first time a company had produced a well-designed energy storage system for the residential consumer. Other products existed, but they were in a pilot phase or weren't built to be the elegant solution Tesla was offering. But Tesla was also years ahead of the market, resulting in slow sales in the first three years for the product (most of Tesla's energy storage sales are the larger Powerpack). In 2018, every major residential solar company is working on their own energy storage solution or partnering with another company. And this coincides with Tesla foregoing its lead in residential solar to Sunrun (NASDAQ: RUN) late in 2017 after shrinking its solar presence at an astounding rate. By the end of the year, Vivint Solar (NYSE: VSLR) , Sunrun, and SunPower (NASDAQ: SPWR) may not only be bigger installers of residential solar systems than Tesla, they may have a lead in residential energy storage.

Why Trump should reject solar tariffs and save American jobs

The solar industry created one out of every 50 new jobs in the U.S. in 2016. It is growing almost 17 times as fast as the national economy, making it the fastest-growing industry in the country. By any measure, the solar industry is one of the most impressive contributors to U.S. economic growth. But thanks to a trade case from two foreign-owned solar panel manufacturers that has reached the president’s desk, solar’s upward trajectory is at risk, and with it tens of thousands of American jobs. The case proposes substantial trade restrictions on foreign-made solar panels, ostensibly in order to bolster solar panel manufacturing in the U.S.

Utah family doubles down on solar investment in the name of clean air

Twelve-year-old Elline Harrison's motivation for a recent school science project also captures the heart of her family's decision to invest in a new rooftop solar power system — and a high-speed electric vehicle charging station — for their home on the bench above this Salt Lake County suburb. "I was just interested in solar and wanted the world to be a better place and wanted the environment to be better," Elline said. Vivint Solar CEO David Bywater said his company, which was the vendor for the system the Harrisons purchased, is trying to be part of that solution and offers a number of options for residents interested in adding power-producing solar panels to their roofs.

Vivint Solar Expands Operations Into Delaware

Leading US residential solar installer Vivint Solar has announced this week that it has successfully expanded operations into the state of Delaware, raising its total reach to 21 states. Vivint Solar has now expanded into seven additional states during 2017, after expanding into Rhode Island in May, then Colorado, relaunching services in Nevada, and further expansions in Vermont, Virginia, Pittsburgh (in Pennsylvania), and now Delaware, residents of which can now purchase a Vivint Solar system outright or finance through monthly payments thanks to the existing partnerships Vivint Solar has with financial institutions.

Father-daughter duo speaks on climate change

A father-daughter duo engaged Sanborn fifth-graders in a presentation about climate change and solar panels on Thursday. Adam McClellan, father to two Sanborn students and Regional Vice President of Vivint Solar, gave a PowerPoint presentation to the fifth-grade class on Oct. 19. He called on his daughter, Ayda McClellan, to speak to her classmates about the impact of pollution on the planet.

German automaker Daimler AG will enter the nascent U.S. market for home batteries through a collaboration with residential rooftop solar installer Vivint Solar Inc, the two companies said on Thursday. The exclusive partnership, Vivint's first foray into energy storage, will allow the companies to compete against similar offerings from automaker Tesla Inc, solar installer Sunrun Inc, battery maker LG Chem Ltd and others.
